Guess what?: Irwan, Zaskia set up ‘pesantren’
Celebrity couple Irwansyah and Zaskia Sungkar has set up a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Bintaro, South Jakarta.
“It’s a Koranic educational group [TPA] that has a short-term pesantren program. I just got a picture from the teacher, and 60 kids are attending the program from the initial 30,” Irwan said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Irwan said establishing a pesantren had always been their dream as Zaskia used to attend a pesantren.
“When Zaskia was young, she attended a pesantren, and now she wants to share that experience with the children,” Irwan said.
“Yes, I attended a pesantren when I was little to learn more about Islam,” Zaskia added.
Irwan said that having a TPA was motivation for him to one day become an Islamic preacher. -
